Kelab UMNO Auckland Orientation Day was held on 15th of March 2008 at the Auckland Domain with the participation of almost 130 members. The objective of the event was to welcome new members besides thanking returning members for their loyalty. The event was targeted to bridge close relationship between members with fun activities and free food.
This event was head by Mr Nurnisham Mohd Ali, UMNO Auckland Secretary 1. Members attending the orientation were assigned into few colour-coded teams during registration. They participated in the games organized for the orientation as representatives from their respective teams as this practice foster teamwork and as a mean of icebreaking members. Each team was assigned with one facilitator comprising of new committee members as an opportunity for them to display their leadership.
The event started with welcoming speech by club’s president, Mr Mohd Ridhwan Mohd Ali. The president thanked and welcomed everyone including his committee members for contributing to the success of the event. He stressed the objective of the club is to take care of student’s welfare and unity. Shortly after the speech, the first game, ‘whisper-whisper’ started. After a good round of fun, the second game followed. ‘Project Runaway’ was a fun game with teams coming up with creative design for costumes using only newspaper. Later the models did a catwalk to show-off their team’s design. The last game of the day was the annual event, ‘Baling Telur’. This was the most enjoyable event of the day as members had great laughter throwing eggs to the partners from a distance. Our activities also attract the New Zealand locals and tourists when they taking pictures during each games.
After the tiring yet fun games session, the members were served with food. The menu was really mouth watering with meehun goreng and kuih bingka. While the members were having lunch, the prizes for the games were presented to winners. The event was wrapped up with group photos and Mr Ridhwan thanking everyone again for their participation.
