26th September 2009 – An Eid Mubarak celebration was organized for Malaysian students in Auckland. It took place at Fale Pasifika Hall, University of Auckland. The event was collaboration between UMNO Auckland Club, Petronas Scholars Unions in Auckland (PETUNIA) and Unions of Malaysian Students in Auckland (UMSA). Approximately 300 Malaysian students came to celebrate the day with friends.
It was good to see people meet old and made new friends during the event. Mr. Mohd Ridhwan Mohd Ali, UMNO Auckland President gave out speech to thank the guests who came and also an important message on behalf of the Malaysian Students Department in New Zealand(MSDNZ) who were unable to send a representative to come and celebrate Eid together with the students.
The menu for the day were Lemang, Nasi Impit, Kuah Lontong, Kuah Kacang and Rendang Ayam. Yum!
We would like to thank MSDNZ for their contribution in making this event a success. Credit goes to the organizing committee who worked very hard in preparing the food and the areas for the events to run smoothly.
Hopefully this will be a yearly event celebrated together by all Malaysians in Auckland and New Zealand.
